Gameplay
- Play every match with day and night, as in Warcraft III: four minutes each. At night everyone sees less and neutral camps sleep until struck. Switch it off in the custom game lobby.
- Watch Werewolves change at dusk: villagers by day (18 damage, armour 1, speed 3.2), glowing-eyed wolves at night (18, armour 3, speed 3.8) that heal out of combat.
- Heal slowly over time like in Warcraft III: Human, Orc and creep units always, every hero faster; Spooky Guys only on haunted ground; machines and buildings never.
- Watch melee soldiers spread around their foes instead of shoving into each other; those with no room stand ready in a second rank and step in when a place opens.
- Strike the moment a Werewolf's Pounce lands: the wolf attacks the foe it leapt at instead of standing idle for up to half a second.
- Haul Zombie lumber to the Haunted House or Blight Mill: the Graveyard is housing and Zombies only, and needs haunted ground. Every hall now gives 12 food, so a hero trains before your first Farm.
- Keep the ground between each town hall and its gold mine clear: no starting trees there, and the computer never builds in it. Both sides of a map now lay out their bases as mirror images.
- Face smarter computer opponents: their badly hurt Hero walks home to heal, and Spooky strikes after dusk while others attack by day and hold home at night.
- Make computer opponents judge a fight before taking it: a wave turns back from an army it cannot beat, badly hurt soldiers fall back to heal, and archers focus fire.
- Face computer opponents that keep researching weapon and armour upgrades all match, instead of stopping after the first one.
- Send the computer's scout home once it finds your base, instead of leaving it there killing your Peasants, and stop the computer building its second hall in your base.
Interface
- Learn the basics in about four minutes: a new first PRACTICE scene walks you through gold, wood, food, soldiers, your hero and a first camp, then straight into a match.
- Tell the game on your first Quick Match how much real-time strategy you have played: hints pace themselves, go quiet in fights, say why for new players and only warn veterans. Hints are in Settings.
- See your work land: a new player's first deliveries clink and bump the counter, a finished building settles in a puff of dust, and the hero badge glows while a skill point waits.
- Cap a selection at 24, as in Warcraft III, and make Tab work like it: heroes first, Shift+Tab steps back, the highlighted kind glows and casts its spells.
- Hear a cleaner battle: music steps back in big fights, voices never talk over each other, far sounds turn dull, a new Voice slider, and online matches go quiet in a hidden tab.
- Get the screen edge back on a sideways iPhone: the HUD now keeps clear of the Dynamic Island only on the side it is on, instead of leaving a gap on both.
- Stop a unit's spoken line covering the HOME and group buttons on a sideways phone: it now drops below them, and the MENU button sits sharp on the screen's pixel grid.
- Sharpen the selection panel's frame, the training queue and every portrait and building face in the HUD on 125 %, 150 %, retina and phone screens: no more smeared pixels.
Fixes
- Fix computer opponents stalling their own training: idle soldiers standing in a building's doorway now step aside, so a Spooky computer attacks minutes sooner instead of sitting at home.
- Fix a computer hero walking home to heal standing still under an enemy's blows when the way was blocked; it now fights its way through.
- Send a worker from the gold mine to build and it goes, gold in hand, instead of walking the gold home and forgetting the order; the computer no longer stalls on houses nobody built.
- Fix path-finding favouring one side: each player now gets an equal share when units queue for routes, so mirrored armies and both players' opening workers start level.
- Fix group moves that include a ward or a deployed Haunted Hearse: the rest of the group now walks instead of standing still, and computer Orc attack waves no longer freeze at home.
- Fix hovering or clicking a creep camp, phone practice covering HOME and +, practice scenes being autosaved, and the Town Hall's build tip showing an art note instead of what it does.
